The 69th “Irish Volunteers” had a two fold celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day this year. On Saturday night the 69th band played at a Saint Patrick’s Day Party and Civil War Gravestone fund raising event hosted by The Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square with a sales table filled with books, cd’s & a new tee shirt rack. Contributions and sales financed yet another gravestone. Of course, on Sunday March 12th the battle flags of the 69th blew in the winds on Market Street and muskets fired to the roar of the crowds. Once again the announcers informed the CBS TV audience of our role at Gettysburg and our placement of gravestones on the previously unmarked 69th veterans.
