Fall Festival & Civil War Weekend
Mullica Hill, NJ
October 8, 2022

To end the season of battle recreations the 69th Pa accepted the invitation of our comrades in the 28th Pa to attend their Mullica Hill New Jersey “MULLICA HILL’S CIVIL WAR LIVING HISTORY WEEKEND”. The day featured a collection of presentations of Civil War music, talks about Civil War generals and a dynamic battle between men of the 28th & 69th Pa and soldiers from several Virginia and North Carolina regiments. Both sides were armed with cannon to provide the spectators with the expected sounds of battle.

69th Captain Michael Ernsberger led the left flank of the union advance capturing a cannon. Two soldiers of the 69th, Color Sergeant Dave O’Daniel and Private Lex Nugent helped to man the cannon as it turned its fury on the rebel position. The battle ended with Union forces overrunning the Confederate Abatis . The captured rebels were then forced to haul the captured cannon back to union camp. The weather for the event was beautiful and sunny. Much time was spent talking with visitors to union camp and sharing stories with our comrades of the 28th Pa around the fire. The camp was located in an wooded alcove in the middle of the town of Mullica Hill.
