Gettysburg Battlefield Encampment
July 29-31, 2022

The 69th camp in front of the Pennsylvania monument

For the first time in this century, the 69th Pa was invited by the National Park Service to encamp on the Battlefield of Gettysburg. Making camp at the foot of the Pennsylvania Monument only 500 meters from The “Copse of Trees” and the “Stone Wall” – the scene of their July 3, 1863 triumph, the unit was honored and excited about the adventure. The 69 Pa did military demonstrations for park visitors; gave tours of our camp; honored our veterans with the traditional evening flag burning ceremony; sang in camp; and toured the nearby scene of the 69th Pa triumph during the war. In cooperation with the Mifflin Guard reenactors, the “Irish Volunteers” received praise from the Park Service.
